영화 데시벨, 차은우, 이민기, 김슬기 등 카메오, 특별출연이 살린 영화

재미없는 영화를 보는 것보다 더 끔찍한 것은 생각거리가 없는 영화에 귀한 시간을 할애하는 것이다. 시간이 지나면 제목과 줄거리는 가물가물하지만 그 영화를 보면서 잠깐 동안 했던 생각거리는 꽤 오래 기억 속에 남는다. 감독 입장에서는 영화를 통해 전달하려 하는 메시지와 그 생각거리가 일치하면 성공한 것일 것이다.

이런 측면에서 데시벨은 생각거리가 있는 영화였다.

솔직히 앞에서 보여주는 폭탄과의 사투는 내겐 그다지 큰 긴장감을 주신 못했다. 땀을 쥐게 한다거나 한 시도 눈을 뗄 수 없어 이런 류는 아니었다. 쉬리 등 이와 유사한 상황의 영화를 많이 봐와서 오히려 식상하지 않았나 싶다.

다만 후반부의 서사가 생각거리를 많이 안겨줬다. 차은우의 연기에 많이 놀랐다. 매번 비슷한 캐릭터를 맡으면서 소모되는 배우들 틈에서 신선하고 묵직한 연기를 한 거 같다. 이런 차은우와 이민기, 김슬기가 특별출연이라니, 특별출연자들이 영화를 살리는 느낌이었다. 이종석이 연기를 못하는 것은 아니나 매번 이런 유사 역을 맡는 것에 좀 식상했다. 김래원은 어떤 역을 하던 그냥 그 캐릭터가 돼서 물 흐르듯 소화하는 거 같다.

이 영화가 안겨준 생각거리는 최근 드라마 트롤리에서 고민했던 것과 유사했다. 기차가 직진하면 한 명의 인부를 죽일 수 있고 방향을 틀어 다른 선로를 간다면  다섯 명의 인부를 죽일 수 있다. 당신이 기관사라면 어떻게 하겠는가? 이 상황에서 선택은 한 명의 인부를 희생하고 다섯 명의 인부를 살리는 쪽일 것이다. 그러나 그 한 명의 인부가 가족이라면?

데시벨에서는 모두 죽느냐 아니면 일부를 희생하고 일부를 살리느냐라는 딜레마를 안겨준다. 이 상황에서 리더의 역할에 대해 고민했다.

이 딜레마를 푸는 방식에서 어찌 보면 대의와 빗겨있던 이종석의 빌런 행위가 개연성을 얻지 못해 좀 억지스러웠다.

What's more terrible than watching a boring movie is to devote precious time to a thoughtless movie. Over time, the title and plot are ambiguous, but the thoughts I had while watching the movie remain in my memory for quite a long time. From the director's point of view, if the message he tries to convey through the film and his thoughts match, it will be a success. In this respect, Decibel was a thoughtful film.

To be honest, the battle with the bomb shown earlier did not give me much tension. It wasn't this kind of thing that made me sweat or that I couldn't take my eyes off for a moment. I think it was rather boring because I watched many movies in similar situations such as Shiri.

However, the narrative in the second half gave me a lot of thought. I was very surprised by Cha Eun-Woo's acting. Unlike actors played a similar character every time, he acted fresh and heavy. Cha Eun-woo, Lee Min-ki, and Kim Seul-ki made special appearances, so it felt like special performers were saving the movie. It's not that Lee Jong-seok is bad at acting, but I was a little tired of playing his similar roles every time. Whatever role Kim Rae-won plays, he seems to just become the character and play it like flowing water.

The movie's thoughts were similar to those of the recent drama Trolley. If the train goes straight, it can kill one worker, and if it turns and goes on another track, it can kill five workers. What would you do if you were an engineer? In this situation, the choice would be to sacrifice one worker and save five workers. But what if the one worker is your family?

In Decibel, it presents a dilemma of whether to all die or save some at the expense of some. I thought about the role of a leader in this situation.

In the way of solving this dilemma, Lee Jong-seok's villainous act was a little unreasonable.
